as the principal lyric writer of the band, stephen merrit the singer isnt really in love with his own voice either. if you've hear the triple album "69 love songs" you'll notice that there are several other artists doing lead vocals.

Man, this doesn't end! But I will say I'm SICK of those who say if a singer is crappy, can't hit the note, quirks it up, then people fawn all over it, saying it's "Unique" or a "style".

Peter Gabriel IS a better singer than this Magnetic guy, but Mr. Fields has got a quality all his own, which I finally heard after many listenings.

Now I have TWO versions of a good song to enjoy!
