The years 1969 to 1977 were the most instrumental in shaping India's future. Think - the 1971 war, the birth of Bangladesh and the license Raj, the nationalisation of banks and most of all, the Emergency. Perhaps fittingly, it was India's most famous prime minister Indira Gandhi, who led the country, for better or worse, through these incredible times.
