Also, the 1996 Sonics would beat these Lakers. Gary Payton may not shut Kobe down but he makes him work his butt off extra hard for every hoop he gets. Shawn Kemp would jump over Bynum/Gasol and he is much quicker/faster. Detlef Schrempf>Odom. Sonics were very athletic and ran an awesome sideline trap on Defense that the likes of Derek FIsher would be a turnover machine against. And as someone else said 1996 Magic beat the 2009 Lakers. 09 LAkers didn't even have the best regsea record in 09

Rules aren't the issue. It's interpretation of the rules.

Tomorrow morning you wake up and read that wearing the color aqua marine is illegal. Then you read that the color aqua marine is to be interpreted during the game.

People also claim that defenses were tougher then due to hand checking, ever think thats the reason why the 09 Lakers dont appear as physical? If the Lakers were allowed to handcheck, their D would be on par with the Bulls easily. It all depends on what rules we would be using.

The 90's era was pretty weak in talent. This series would be very close. It could go either way in 7 games. Neither Jordan nor Pippen could shut down Kobe and vice versa. No one on the Bulls could shut down Pau's smarts. He would take a dump on any of the Bulls bigs.

Anyone who thinks the 09 Lakers make this competitive let alone win are morons. Longley and Gasol have similar games and Rodman would make Bynum cry. MJ>Kobe, Harper>FIsher, But here's the biggest mismatch, whoever matches up with Pippen (and if you say Odom then you don;t deserve to go near a basketball). Bulls bench is much deeper, and here's another big factor, Bulls Defense way better. Bulls D full court pressed the crap out of teams. Lakers D looked weak vs Rockets without MAC and YAO.
