Not to be a know-it-all, but just in case anyone watching wants to know, the music played during the opening credits is Chopin's Prelude in C Major, Op. 28, No. 1.

This is really masterful playing - I have never cared much for Gimpel, because the few records I have show him to be a rather dry player.

Jakob Gimpel was inimitable yet relatively unsung. His pathos in Schumann's Fantasy was very moving. In live concert his playing was even more passionate, e.g. Book 1of the Brahms-Paganini he tossed off with absolute, thrilling virtuosity in 9 minutes plus and still projected much delicacy. His Chopin late Nocturnes touched the soul. His tone was magical. He could caress a warm forte where others could only do so up to mezzo piano. I place him between Friedman and Busoni.

Thank you for your warm comments. Did you notice the movie of the Brahms Paganini Variations, also in my channel ? I think it's miraculous. He had a very special, personal & effective technique, great to watch.
