Éramos Seis

"We were Six" recounts the saga of an ordinary Brazilian family, during the social and economic transformations of various decades. The drama is divided up into three phases: The first takes place between 1921 and 1924, showing a São Paulo in a stage of development and great expectations. Sr. Júlio (Othon Bastos) and Dona Lola (Irene Ravache) have taken the plunge in buying a house of their own, located on the Avenida Angélica (São Paulo's famous thoroughfare) and are struggling with difficulty to bring up their four sons - Carlos, the eldest, is the favorite; Alfredo, the "difficult" son; Julinho the quietest and Maria Isabel, the apple of her father's eye.
In 1931 - the second phase of the story, Sr. Júlio hás gone ínto business, working in the office of a textile store. Carlos, the eldest, is studying medicine. Alfredo is finishing high school, Julinho studying engineering and Maria Isabel continuing her general schooling; everything seems to be going very well, when Júlio dies.

With the death of Júlio, the life of Dona Lola and her children undergoes a radical change. With great sacrifice, the last installment on the house is paid, but, after ali this, the family breaks up. With various characters and parallel plots, which stretch from humor to romance always reflecting the drama of its characters, the soap opera reaches its third phase, which takes place in 1942. Everything hás changed; Dona Lola, already elderly, walks alone down the Avenida Angélica every day, but it is no longer the same. Only the old house remains there, but, as bad luck would have it, it is no longer hers.

Uma pena que são raríssimas as novelas do SBT que são exibidas em outros países, pior também que é raro uma que faça sucesso a ponto de abalar a Globo.
