Until recently, it has generally been assumed that God-fearing Christians vote Republican. Yet as John W. Whitehead points out in this week's vodcast, Jesus saw politics and human governments as inevitably corrupt and set the standard for confronting governmental powers. And his teachings undermined the establishment and the political status quo, not only of his own time but ours as well.

  • I stopped believing in Jesus when I realized that the Jesus franchise had been taken over by the right wing evangelicals in order to push their selfish evil addenda. If there was a Jesus, son of ”God, he would never stand for the evil done in his name. I don’t think the evangelical republican conservatives actually believe in Jesus either, if they did believe they would never do the things that they do. I left the church and say If you want to find evil, just go to any evangelical church.

  • @jesus501100 The real Jesus is a Republican"

The REAL JESUS was a Jew who died almost two generations before Christianity was invented. I doubt he'd care about American politics or politics of any kind. It seems that he preached the ten commandments, righteous living and being responsible for your own sins. As far as America goes - take your pick ? Are any of them anything but liars, greedy war mongers who care nothing but for their own wealth and attainment?

  • I The real Jesus is a Republican.

  • @paragshah2112 -.-' because they're human.. -_-

  • @freshasflowers There one of the reasons why the rest of the world hates us so much.

  • Some ot these right-wing republicans, with their smug looks on their faces, seem so sure if God was in the room with them he would give them a big pat-on-the-back with a huge shit-eating grin and say "Well done, my good and faithful servants." Many of them are gonna be shocked, when instead they're gonna get the "I never knew you" speech.

  • @kbunja That was great! Seemed like he liked to party a little bit too.

  • I knew it! Jesus was a socialist (not the same as communist; in fact, it isn't even very political per se)! Hehe, the Republicans, the Westboro Church (Fred Phelps) and other Christian extremists are IDIOTS. They are an embarrassment to Christianity and to the entire world. ;)

  • @kbunja HAHAHAHA! Outstanding post!

  • I think it's clear that Jesus wasn't too into "politics," but mostly because government didn't serve EVERYBODY. He was homeless, hung out with homeless, at least one prostitute that we know of...

If he were forced to choose between parties, it's obvious he'd go Democrat. Republicans simply aren't much interested in helping the poor.
