Drug offenses shouldn't even be an issue in the first place...

It's not a violent crime, there is no victim... It's not even really a crime at all, if someone chooses to use a drug.

Prohibition is just wrong... We could fix all these sub problems, like financial aid, by just getting rid of this criminal prohibition.

In a free country, Prohibition of what one puts into their body, is just plain wrong.

I think if a person is committed of rape, sexual assault, pedophilic crimes, arson, murder, terrorism, or robbery, THEY should lose their loans and not be able to take advantage of student aid, NOT people who just get high!!! Where the fuck are our priorities??

Though.. IMO in a *PERFECT* society private individuals would do financial aid, and the role of the government would be to enforce the contract.. not to give out the aid..

I think you need to reread what I said.  I was saying that I disagree with the HEA Aid Elimination Penalty. Please read more carefully before commenting.

Souder said that financial aide is a privilege. He's exactly correct, which is why you lose your financial aide if you are doing poorly in your classes. If a student chooses to do drugs but continues to do well in classes, he/she is still making the grades, so should still earn the aide. Financial aide is based on income, not how you spend that income.
