U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman discusses efforts in the Senate Finance Committee on health care reform legislation. Bingaman highlights some key components of the current bill and outlines some of the next steps in Senate negotiations on health care reform.
The Committee may vote—or mark up—their version of the legislation next week. Bingaman is a member of the Gang of Six, a bipartisan group of Senators on the Finance Committee who drafted the first version of the bill.
I know that the Sen. Fin. Com. are smart cookies on making a balanced budget. So what, if any, identified revenue sources are listed to keep this bill deficit neutral?
Also, I do not like the sound of those who have health insurance paying for those who have not. It sounds too much like people with children paying child support for those who left their children behind. I realize that government subsidies work like this, but still... a bit unsettling.
