Plot:
Two brothers, Phil and Ted Stoneman, visit their friends in Piedmont, South Carolina: the family Cameron. This friendship is affected by the Civil War, as the Stonemans and the Camerons must join up opposite armies. The consequences of the War in their lives are shown in connection to major historical events, like the development of the Civil War itself, Lincoln's assassination, and the birth of the Ku Klux Klan.

You don't seem to get that History is history, Its not right or wrong that matters in history and this is a very important historical film, we very soon forget that the best way to teach how NOT to be racist is to show how bad the racism in those years was.

i love this movie !! too many read to much into it . this movie is 98 years old sure the views are miss guided and offensive in this day but back then who are you to say .personally if movies where around during the Salem witch trials i would love to see them also but i wouldn't be glorifying murder of people who where superstitious or we .

You cant please everyone this movie is a window into a past that dont fit in our future or now but it is past try looking at it threw those eyes .
