it's about a guy (natsume) who can see spirits, just like his grandmother reiko did. then he finds the book of friends in her heirlooms and together with nyanko sensei (also a spirit) he returns good spirits their names (so that they can live peacefull again!)

it's a really interesting anime, try watching it!
