Word is the Canadiens tried to draft and get Tretiak to play for them if Russia (Soviets) let him go. But it never happened. Tretiak's lifelong dream was playing in net for the Montreal Canadiens.

This period Red Army Club had the Greatest Ever International Hockey Players.

Dryden had already retired the previous Spring before this game was played
-
The Final Score of this game was Montreal 4 CSKA 2.

@pastorfergus Correct. This game was the last time Tretiak,Mikhailov,Kharlomov,Pe
trov, and most of the 1975 Red Army club would play together in any NHL vs Soviets Super Series. Mikhailov retired in early 1981. Kharlomov died in a car accident shortly before the Canada Cup tournament began in 1981. Petrov I think was also gone after 1980. -
This is actually from Dec 31st,1979. The first time any Russian club team beat the Canadiens was on Dec 31st,1983 by the final score of 5-0. Tretiak's last game appearance ever before he retired after the Winter Olympics in 1984.

@RealMadrid560 The 1975 New Year's Eve game ended 3-3. The 1979 (not 1980) New Year's Eve game ended 4-2 for the Habs.
