i dont like the organ in this. The use of the organ makes it very much like a christian ceremony. it says in the Torah that we should be ourlseves and not like the others. i am all for respecteing other religions but we should keep our own jewish traditions and not adopt those of the christians.

Such a beautiful voice. It calls to my wayward Jewish heart.

A beautiful song! Thanks a lot for posting, dear Rowna.

beautiful song by the way, beautiful prayer. Does this song exist for a long time, meaning if it was sung like 2000 years ago? I wonder If Jeshua sung this sung. Wow, that would be beautiful. You see, Jeshua taught to call El Elohim Father, Our Father.
When is it sung? I hope that someone would answer me, for I really want to know more about my Savior. In the past we were taken away from our roots, but El Elohim is bringing us back to our roots. I wish you all His love, peace and mercies.

funny to read that even between the jews there are still(hard)discussions about who is right who not.Just like with the the christians.I prefer calling myself born again christian. For Jeshua taught that we should be born again.Anyway dear people my question is:when will we ever let The Holy One of Israel speak for Himself? He is still the God Who speaks, sees and hears. He says:ask Me and I will tell you about what is to come in Jeremiah. He is a personal God.Let Him speak to us through His Spirit.

don't mock and don't lie

@jbruck55 though i agree with you on the fact that no matter the level of observance all jews are jews and there is no difference. However you are obvipusly not any better than he is in your attitude: "their extreme beliefs ". Those so called "extreme" believes been around for thousands od years. Reform is what 150 or so years. So don't thinkyou are so great that you can call other jews names. You are not beter.

Strange Fruit Palestine trees bear a strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Palestine body swinging in the Arab breeze, Strange fruit hanging from the olive trees. Pastoral scene of the Palestine land, The bulging eyes and a twisted hand, Scent of olives sweet and fresh, And the sudden smell of burning flesh! Here is a fruit for the vultures to pluck, For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, For the sun to rot, for a tree to drop, Here is a strange and bitter crop.
@cantorandopera *cough**cough* Sorry to point out that I'm not so sure that this guy (whoever he is) meant anything positive. The Hebrew reads Yehudim ≠ Chassidim. I guess that means he's basically saying that Jews and Ultraorthodox Jews are 2 different religions–and I believe he is therefore telling reformists to go f*ck off–pardon my French. No offense to him, but I really, really hate those narrow minded ultraorthodox Chassidim who try to shove their extreme beliefs down other Jews' throats

@jbruck55 my Hebrew is just "siddur" hebrew - I know all the words of the prayers , but I can't make a conversation. thanks for the heads up. why can't the orthodox leave us alone? did you ever hear a reform jew say it is wrong to go to the mikvah? or wrong to wear tzitzits? pulease, let us observe in a way that is meaningful to US. I was brought up orthodox - couldn't wait to leave the hypocrisy behind me - because that is what i felt - but for those who believe it, that is fine with me

@JBAmadeus Where in the Torah does it say you can't record on the Sabbath? You have a refrigerator at home? you unplug it for the sabbath? How bout heat? turn that off? I can't stand people who use the torah as a vehicle to promote their inclincations, and then trash others. interpreting text for your own bias is just plain, self serving. the congregants who love this service and have a woman sing it, are very moved and don't care that others find it offensive - there is no offense.

@cantorandopera I am a Persian Jew who, much to the dismay of many of my community, started attending Reform services a few years ago. I have never felt so moved during a service as I feel when attending a Reform kenissa (synagogue), especially on Kabbalat Shabbat. I don't like it when some Orthodox Jews try to shove their level of observance down my throat when they found out I drove to services or don't use a Shabbat alarm clock. I say live and let live. Enjoy the female chazzan's voice!

@rudabeh Thanks for your comment. Why is there a distinction between the sexes, observing traditions of any faith? Everyone should notice that organized, recognized most religions are led by men, and have strict rules governing the participation of the women, relegating them to inferior positions. This is why I am a reform jew - because women have equal rights to everything. Yes, now men can light candles - so what! I can give that up because now I can read from the torah, on the bimah,
