"Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles" transforms the simple, everyday acts of breading cutlets, massaging meatloaf, and boiling potatoes into evocative, cinematic gestures. In honor of the film's long-awaited DVD release, The Criterion Collection is sponsoring the first-ever "Jeanne Dielman" cooking video contest.
Make a video of yourself (or someone else) cooking meat loaf, cutlets, or potatoes and upload it as a video response to this video.
There will be two prizes. The winner of the Audience Award, the most popular entry as voted on by the YouTube community, will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Criterion Collection website. A Grand Prize winner, to be selected by the staff of the Criterion Collection, will receive a new PlayStation 3, Criterion's reference Blu-ray player. Submissions are welcome from anywhere in the world, but only entries from the U.S. and Canada will be eligible for prizes. The deadline is September 28, 2009.
The deadline for rating the contest entries is October 20; we hope to announce the winners on October 22.

@SomeRandomAhole Dude, stop spamming all of the Akerman-related videos on YouTube. We get it: you hate her movies and you hate women. Now go back to playing video games or watching Star Wars or lighting your farts on fire or whatever it is that you do when you're not spamming YouTube with the same comment over and over and over again.

I do not care whether I win or not, I already have. The wonderful thing about this contest is that one of my heros, Chantal Akerman is actually going to watch a video made by me. That is thrilling, and fantastic, that such a thing could happen in this new world of connection. Thank you.
