i don't see whats wrong with casual greyhound racing. i had a greyhound and he raced, and LOVED IT! He never got injured and he lived a long life of about 14 years. we had to put him down because he became blind, not related to the racing at all. I'm not saying its good to race them, but it doesn't do any harm to them really.

the dog looked pretty fine at the end definitely.

While there are bad tracks and bad kennels, there are also good tracks and good kennels with owners who care about the dogs. To say just because this dog wiped out that the whole of greyhound racing is bad is completely misleading.

@orkneysuzi i m 14 n i work day n night with greayhounds in ireland and we dont put em down if they lose

@orkneysuzi i think i speak for most normal people when i say just shut up

Or they could be locked up in apartment buildings with nothing to do. Would you rather that?

its just sick. how can anyone watch this knowing that thousands of these animals are killed, injured and mistreated every year.
-
Not only does greyhound racing result in crashes (leading to broken bones and sometime crushed skulls), but the industry itself sees greyhounds as disposable sources of income, and are more often than not euthanized by the thousands every year if they are not fast enough to be profitable.

They love socialising with the other dogs at the track and they are one of the fittest, most athletic breeds around. Good luck with your fat dog in the backyard. Probably on its last legs. You still feeding it twinkies you imbecile?

Ahhhh you poor simple cretin. What about the millions of dogs who sit in a house all day or lie in the backyard and do nothing? MIght be lucky enough to get outside for a walk once a week. Greyhounds are walked daily, taken to the trial track twice a week and usually race once a week. They all love it. When they know they are going racing they go beserk with excitement.

@ImpendingWoods I agree. It was just bad luck. No one could live a life without falling over.
Another dead greyhound. and for what? for what?

The greyhound didnt die you fool. U are so uninformed.

Really? We are uninformed? Read your OWN description...It says :
"Greyhound takes heavy fall on 1st turn at cannington raceway and AND WAS SHORTLY PUT DOWN AFTER THE RACE"
Now I am not an english major or anything but 'put down' means put to sleep, put out to pastor, killed, hung out to dry...add what ever words you want. If the greyhound didn't die, then what did you mean by what you said? Just so that we are not uninformed in future.

They probably just killed the dog instead of getting him to a vet and actually paying for his care. When greyhounds don't make profits for their owners they are DONE!! STOP GREYHOUND RACING NOW!!
