Today is December 28th. The third day of Kwanzaa. The principle of the day is Ujima, which means collective work and responsibility. Do you have any suggestions on how our communities can work collectively to solve the problems that exist? When you look in the mirror, what do you see as your role in this goal?

  • Hello Atlantasistah.

What do your think about a nationalized plan as being the answer to our community problems and challenges? Not a 501c organization but a structured solution to, for example, house all of our homeless fathers, mothers, and children on the downtown streets of big cities, etc. using our own dollars.

I myself see such a Marcus Garvey kind of approach as being the one solution we have strayed away from.

  • Sounds like a great idea. BUT a great idea that would take much work. I mean ALOT of work. Of course, nothing is impossible. And anything worth the journey is definitely worth the struggle.

  • Nice post about Kwanzaa.

  • I will never forget when I lost some money a while back and this girl at my job, she wanted to help me with funds but couldn't. I appreciate the fact that she thought on it because I know some folks got good hearts but hate to be put at a disadvantage. We can help one another so much more if we stop backbiting and talking trash on each other and do the right instead of the wrong. There's a saying down here that goes like this, If I can't help you, I won't hurt you. That should be our motto.

  • well love I think me, you and a number of others are real...however, there is a lot of fakeness too. I know I can be really negative sometimes...but really it's just the holidays...I'm usually nicer.

  • Well, I donj't go for that this isn't real this is youtube stuff. It is real. Folks actually think and act this way. But I do get what you are saying. Thanks for weighing in.

  • nope...I tried positivity and I got a lot of hate because I'm paid and don't make excuses...besides...this isn't real, it's youtube.

You have to understand...I'm not talking about black people...I'm talking about your cotton patch negroe's. My generalizations are only to them.

  • You get what you expect. Seems to me that you expect negativity therefore you draw it to you when dealing with your own folks. Just food for thoughts.

  • about those 20-30 on youtube? nope. Consider me the cranky old dude who just can't understand how some people can figure out eating much less making a living.

The 7 principles of kwanzaa are lost on them. The faking and shaking. I've actually met Dr. Karenga and trust me...he is just as frustrated.

  • Question ... Do you have anything positive to say about black people?
