thanks for posting.. can you tell me.. what can this board do that an arduino uno cannot? i'm new to all this so all i understand is that this mbed is smaller and faster than the arduino. what else?

Aduino is much slower than mbed, it doesnt have USB HOST/DEVICE capability on its own. Also mbed has better timers and Capture units. The RAM and Flash are practically HUGE. There is onboard Ethernet capability, just need to hookup a Magjack. The mbed has 2 SPI,2 I2C, 2UARTS and 1CAN also. All these features can be obtained by shields in Arduino but its all available in single chip then its good in certain applications.
