http://www.ted.com Nobel Peace laureate Jody Williams brings tough love to the dream of world peace, with her razor-sharp take on what "peace" really means, and a set of profound stories that zero in on the creative struggle -- and sacrifice -- of those who work for it.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate.

  • @KommandantKavu Hey, I see where you are coming from and don't disagree. A friend used to say "you can crap in one hand and wish in the other. Which one is going to fill up the fastest." However, it all starts with a thought, and if more thoughts are about helping ourselves and others then the actions that follow will make this a better place and inspire others to do the same hopefully. Anyway, I agree that action speaks louder than words thats for sure.

  • @KommandantKavu Changing mind sets is really the key. The love I am talking about is self love, because we are truly one. If the world leaders don't start teaching this instead of separateness, our ecosystem of which we are a part of is finished. True sustainability of the ecosystem is possible only when this happens. In that regard I agree that we can't be neutral on a moving train. Sad but true I am afraid.

  • Used this interested TED talk video in my recent blog post on Remembrance Day, on Nextstarfish

  • Very interesting cate. Good luck

  • Thank you , this is a clear way to go , we need much more of this action from people all around to first understand what is happening an then decide.

  • If u think peace, people think of humanity. I fu think war, people think islam. Why/

Peace is humanity, war is islam.

  • @nachoijp I watched this video several times and the more I did the more I liked it. I guess thats how brainwashing works. The trick is to update your software with the programs that help yourself and others which has a better chance of creating a better world as a whole I suppose. But even doing that has no guarantee. I like to keep that old saying "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." in the back of my mind before I judge as to what Right Action is and pull the trigger of change

  • @justkarmatoo are you sure you watched the video?

  • The Nobel Peace Prize became a worthless joke when they gave one to Obama even though the man hadn't accomplished a thing to earn it.

  • humans dont use money to other humans

  • such sadness in her voice

i think i'd have cried if watching this live

  • Fairness and equality do not exist. They are not found in any society, they are not found in nature, they are not found anywhere.

It is the struggle for one's "piece of the pie" that causes conflict around the world. We have only to, as a society, continually move towards fairness and equality in order to improve our situation. (10-29-10)
