This short video features photos and film taken whilst climbing Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England. The mountain has a rich mythological history - the ancient British sow Goddess, Cerridwen, is said to have deposited a sacred animal here on her way to the Isle of Anglesey, Likewise, Arthurian legends suggest that the ruined fortress at the foot of the . Mountain to the South - sometimes named Dinas Emrys, other times Dinas Affernon - is the mythic 'Ambrosial City', the famed home of the Fferyllt, or British Alchemists - which gives it an association with Merlin in particular who was said to have wandred in the nearby forests. The city was also famous for two warring dragons acting to continually undermine its walls - in Geoffrey of Monmouth Merlin reveals the nature of the Dragons to a puzzled Vortigern.

  • watching this has made me cry-Hiraeth-li love this mountain

  • I climbed Snowdon about 2 years ago with my 6th form. We had some park rangers to guide us, but they suddenly decided it would be a good idea to take a "short cut", which involved 2hours of climbing up a 45 degree skree slope and rock face, then walking across the ridge to the top in 60mph winds. I thought I was going to die, but it was, oddly enough, one of the best experiences of my life!
