During the next months he travels from the hotlands of Southern India (Mount Arunachala) to the source of the Ganges river in the Himalayas. Along the way, he meets holymen and spiritual teachers (among them, the Benedictine monk Father Bede Griffiths who runs the Shantivanam Ashram, a bridge between East and West Cultures and Religions), travels and learns the discipline of detachment with a sadhu and attends India's most sacred religious festival, the Kumbha Mela.

Il voyagera sur cette terre sacrée à partir des terres chaudes du sud du pays (Mont Arunachala) jusqu'à la Source du Gange dans l'Himalaya. En cours de route, il rencontrera des sages et des saints, voyagera et apprendra la discipline du détachement avec un véritable sadhu, sera initié à la méditation par un guru de la Vallée des Dieux dans l'Himachal Pradesh, et participera à la plus grande fête religieuse de l'Inde, la Kumbha Mela.
