On Hold deals with me and my partner's decision to leave Israel and relocate to Spain. It focuses on the preparation for this move as well as on all the moral issues` For an Israeli Arab couple it is a classic dilemma that comes down to our very existence. Should we stay in a country that, although it has been the home of our ancestors for centuries, it is defined as the home of the Jewish people and all of its resources and systems are allocated and built to serve their interests not ours.
Should we stay in our home and fight for our basic rights and for a decent life or should we follow our dreams and embark on the road to find another promised and more tolerant homeland. Looking for answers to these complicated questions drove us to go and search for answers around us; my Muslim family, my husband's Christian family and our friends, Arabs and Jews, only to find out that we are not into this alone, these small stories combine together to create a collage of feelings torn between the human need of individuality and the common good and undefined homeland love, a love for a land stamped with the blood of all those who believed they deserve it more.
