Just the kind of advicee I need Max, thanks. I NEVER practice..I've been playing for 18 years but I haven't "practiced" in probably 10 years. The only playing I get in are band rehearsals once a week, and it's not that I don't have time, I have a ton of time. My problem is now I'm not used to practicing, so I always feel lost. Any advice for getting started? I really want to improve my time, my relaxation and my feel overall and I just need some sort of jumping off point.

This is good stuff, even if you DO have the time to practice. and if you have the desire to become a good drummer. It's good to know what you are practicing and how to practice it. How to make it work, even if you do have the time for it.

Hello! What if I only have 3 whole days of practice a week? Which is wed. sat. and sunday? Whats going to happen then? Will it hinder improvement?
skypiercer03 1 year ago
@skypiercer03 Hey There, of course it won't hinder improvement . It's better to practice 1 day a week than no days if that's all you have. If you have a choice , it's better to practice on a daily basis. But sometimes we don't have a choice so do the best with what you have. If you practice 3 days a week you'll improve. Just make sure to work on something consistently . Don't practice 1 thing one day then something else another day . Through repetition you will improve. All the best Max

When I sit down with my 'micro-goals', those goals in each 20 to 30 minute chunk of practise, e.g. fingers, or cross co-ordination, what do I actually do when it comes to that?
For example, do I work through the book and just keep going or do I go over what i've already done before a new bit, or do i just work a page for a while. Any tips, strategies or ideas?
Thanks
Alex

Hey YTisshit, I think I know what you mean . Let me know if I'm wrong. I would stick with an exercise till you get comfortable with it and it becomes easy to perform . I would move on when you've mastered that exercise. Meaning, it becomes second nature and you're not struggling with it anymore. Is this what you wanted to know? Max
