Even as the supertanker the Saudi Sirius Star continues to be in the grip of pirates of the coast of Somalia, the Indian Navy appears
to have taken the lead in the fight against pirates.

An Indian warship deployed in the Gulf of Aden fought Somali pirates and destroyed their vessel after a brief battle, the navy said on 19 Nov 2008.

  • well done :D this is what all navies should do- bring the fight to the pirates- bomb the ports, stop them from launching, if the world forces were keen, they'd just carpet bomb the coast

  • Indian Navy reprises the role of combating piracy.

  • Go India! :)

  • good job,but I think using a large naval ship to deal with pirates are no so effective they can only passively defence. My plan is to use a decoy ship with armored personel on board and a sub go after it. when a ship is confirmed pirate and try to jack the decoy ship, the sub will sunk their mothership and the decoy will take care of the rest.

  • hoorah for the Indian Navy. Way to step up!
