When a massive asteroid heading towards Earth only grazes the edges of its atmosphere, a potential disaster seems averted... but, in reality Earth has been knocked out of its orbit and is spiraling closer to the sun. temperatures to soar with deadly consequences. Tom Bracket (Van Dien), an LAPD officer, catches wind of the growing disaster and together with a team of scientists he fights against time to save the planet from solar devastation.

It is so hot because the asteroid hits the Earth has been knocked out of its orbit. The asteroid pushes the earth closer to the sun making the tempeture 137 degress.
