An African Election is a film by Jarreth Merz. The 2008 presidential elections in Ghana, West Africa, serve as a backdrop for this feature documentary, which looks behind the scenes of a complex, political machinery of a third world country trying to catch up with the first world. Merz embarks on a once in a lifetime political journey.

  • Saw this at RiverRun Film Festival last night. Well done, and affirming. Democracy takes work to do right, works through imperfect people, and yet if the people share a hope in the process and work toward its ideal, it does still work. PhotoID and paper ballots, too lol. Good job, Ghana, and director Merz - best to you both.

  • @owusumensford actually 2:40 was Ashaiman in the tema municipality and its is in ghana i was there personally every bit of this video did happenend in Ghana our beloved

  • I was here in Ghana during the elections but the last part where soldiers and rioters were present didnt happen so why is the director trying to make Ghana look bad???? Its a good documentary though!

  • To those who think parts of this video are not taken in Ghana, every part of this video is in Ghana, my motherland. You can see cars with GH registration numbers, Party colours, and even cameramen with TV3 written at their back in the middle of the military actions. Watch well before you criticize. Kudos to

  • @owusumensford. Just download the video if you can and play it at a slow motion. I did that and I can tell you every part of this video is in Ghana, my motherland. You can see cars with GH registration numbers, Party colours, and even cameramen with TV3 written at their back in the middle of the military actions. Watch well before you criticize. Kudos to

  • @AAEadmin We need it ASAP

  • it actually started from 2:40 with inserting clashes and the military. Mr. Jareth that was not in Ghana and if u think I'm lying look at the billboards in the background and the military personnel.

  • The footage after 3:24 is not Ghana, why do we dramatize issues on Africa by putting pieces and bits together from a host of countries and claim it's from a single country.

  • I am speechless!
