ians voice is shot today and the best rock singer in the 80,s was axl rose shame his voice is shot aswell all screamers lose their voice in the end

Born Again is actually where I discovered Ian Gillan (Sorry, I was 10 years old in 1983!). I love his vocals on that album. I think it's just a matter of what you heard first. I appreciate his work with DP as well.

Freddie Mercury comes to mind. It wasn't that someone became better than him really; it's just that he did lose what his voice used to be. The vocal nodules and the year with Sabbath seemed to finish him off. The way he sings and the sound of his voice is very much altered after about '83, and hardly recognisable or comparable to the sound of his voice between 69-81
