Just saw this PSA on TV. Overall, I liked it!
But, when a person with T1 makes a statement that "diabetes can often be prevented", it seems to perpetuate myths, not dispel them.
Many parents will hear his words about prevention and wonder what they could have done differently. People who are considering donating to advocacy organizations may hear those words, and decide not to contribute because "it could have been prevented". Many children may see this PSA, and blame themselves.

As someone who also has diabetes And has suffered Medical complications From the disease And also from not sharing with others That I needed help Dealing with my disease, I applaud you. Thank you for giving diabetes a voice! I remember fondly working with you years ago in Chicago...and I take great pleasure (and pride) in seeing your wonderful success these days!
