LOL, You are not misunderstanding nothing.

Radio Exitos was a Mexican radio station in Mexico city, back in the 50's and 60's this song os the Ames brothers was their I.D.

They changed the lyrics to Spanish, instead of spelling "rag mop" they spell the I.D of the station (X.E.R.C) .

It sounded very nice.

I' going to search for that I.D. and I'll let you know.

TenStarsplus!!!! OMG where have the years gone??? 1950, and I was 7 years old listening to this inn the radio!!! 63 years and I was in the second grade of school, and now I'm almost 70!!!
