Listen to a song in the BP Scale here:

C-Thru Music (c-thru-music.com) has graciously lent me this keyboard, called the AXIS, to do some research. I am rearranging the keys for the Bohlen-Pierce Scale, a macrotuning based on a 3/1 frequency ratio, divided by 13 equal steps. See http://www.ziaspace.com/elaine/BP for research on the BP Scale.

I'm also working with a company (started by the inventor of the keyboard!) called The Shape of Music (www.TheShapeOfMusic.com) and their keyboard is called the Opal. It has weighted keys and fancy guitar-style paint!

This particular AXIS toured with the Lionel Richie Band on loan, went to me, and in two weeks I will be flying to Boston to give this AXIS to the Berklee College of Music, Synthesis Department - namely to Dr. Boulanger who will use it for his classes and for the new microtonal club.

I teach Electronic Music at Scottsdale Community College. Come join the fun! Visit my website! -- ziaspace.com

She was 19 and was doing great until cancer took her very quickly.

  • I want to see a video of you playing a song with the axis in BP scale.

  • @DSotWall - I do play a song! Just keep watching.. it's in another section. I play "love song".. or at least the beginning of it.

  • Very cool. I was doing some research cause I'm going to this Bohlen-Pierce conference to play percussion in Boston. Great to see a visual representation and a cat who digsthis tuning. All the best, Rick Sacks - Toronto

  • Hello Rick - i was at the BP symposium and I did see the big performance with all of the percussion instruments from Canada, so I may have met you. Did we meet? That was an amazing performance. Very mesmerizing.
