The science-fiction story 'Who Goes There' from John W. Campbell was already translated into a movie 'The Thing from another world' in 1951 by Howard Hawks. But it was John Carpenter (the same director as Halloween from 1978) who made it into one of the most horrifying and inspirational movies ever: The Thing (1982).
The movie tells a story about a group of scientists in their base on Antarctica who are terrorised by a life-form from outer space that can take over their bodies.
With the great actor performance of Kurt Russell, the camera of Dean Cundey and the music of Ennio Morricone, this movie became one of my personnal favorite.
In this scene you can see how the alien has taken over someone's body and reveales itself. With the great special effects you can see, this scene is one the be never forgotten.

Well you'd be in severe shock..........post traumatic stress disorder.........doesn't necessarily make you run it's all so surreal for them..........like in the beginning with the dog monster..........they were extremely shocked.....but they were curious too.

  • @AceofDlamonds People respond differently.

    Some fight some flee.

    Some just stand there.

Not all people respond the same.

  • That is FUCKED. UP.

  • @themikereda

2011 was a prequel, this movie was a remake of an old black and white movie if you didn't noticed but a true adaptation of the original story

  • @180monster

Misconception, this movie was a faithful re-adaptation of John Campbell's Who Goes There which inspired the 1951 version

  • @sheenyforever

This movie was NOT the original Thing movie

  • 100% scarier than anything from the 2011 remake.

  • someone showed me this during lunch. i coughed for the next five minutes

  • @sheenyforever this was a remake itself. :L

and the 'remade' version isn't remade, it's a prequel.

  • My whole body cringed the first time I saw this part. Alien, as good as it was, simply does not satisfy like Carpenter's version of 'The Thing'.
