  • I agree with you, I train aikido for 6 months now maybe 7 and i have learned that the color of the belt doesn't matter. For example i have one of the best ukemi from yellow to blue belt, but I'm not even yellow belt.

P.S. My sensei told I'm skipping the yellow belt for the orange one :)

  • Very well said.. if you train hard and seriously, you will be able to defend yourself before reaching the higher ranks.

  • what you say is very true sir

  • I don't care about the belt. What i'm looking for is balance in my life. What i'm finding from watching these videos is life techniques not fighting techniques. I have no dojo close to me. I have no sensei or partner but I have cleaned great wealth from watching and doing shadow kata. I hope to moving soon to an area that has a sensei. Aikido has become by bliss.

  • OSU Sensei. Long Time no talk. Let me share this. I agree with you and I have talked about this. In Japan you can get a black belt in a year, does that mean you can do techniques as good as someone that took 3 or 4 or 8 years to get a black belt ? I would rather spend more time on techniques and be comfortable than rushing thru it all.

We Promote in rank, climbing the ladder so that we can help others up it.

    OSU!

  • that was great...!!
