The outer tunnel was finished in the 1800's and was used until the railway line was threatened by coastal erosion. So they moved the line inland and built a new tunnel.

there use to be raves in that tunnel to the left in the 90s. somethimes called by the locals as, the half moon ,.

there is a great camping spot just around there, fish and relax there, and if you know the spots like dog rock seagulls rock cable rock,and so many more you can have some adventures up their. walk through the mile tunnel if you have the balls,takes 35 min.sea otters and grey seals and huge amounts of sea birds can be viewed.

@FamishAmerica yes its the Dart unfortunately does not have any railway lines to serve anywhere except the coast. Other metro's serve places useful

The original costal line from the outer tunnel north along the coast to Shanganagh. The line was moved inland in the 1910s because of erosion. If you walk the beach from Bray to Shankill a lot of the old railway alignment and bridges are still there.

The outer tunnel used to be used, There was a wooden bridge to the other side, A train once derailed and crashed off one of the many wooden viaducts here so they rebuilt the railway with new tunnels, I have no idea when they decided not to use wooden viaducts again!!
