Gerry Cooley, Santry and Dublin Historian drives home to his childhood Cooley homestead in no 21 Turnapin Cottages. Video was shot in February 2009. Gerry uses Chris Rea's "Driving home for Christmas" as the soundtrack and it really works well. At a Christmas presentation in December 2009, he asked how old attendees thought the Video was, some said 20 years. The Journey starts in Church Lane in Santry Village taking a right turn heading North along the old airport Road. Gerry has just published "Turn at the Pine Trees" in June 2011 which is a collection of short stories about growing up in Turnapin Lane from 1965-1970. It has been hailed a possible best seller with the sequel "Return to the Pine Trees" due Christmas 2012. This one deals with 1970-1975 starting with his first year in Belcamp College.

  • Please say hello to the Smith family if they still live in the cottages. Many years ago I used to ride a messenger bike from Liptons in Artane all the way out to Turnapin Cottages, or was it just called Turnapin Lane then? Yeah and I rode my bike through snow to get to them too. Best wishes and thanks for the memories
