Samba feet in samba shoes: Rio Carnival 2010

This video is made up of footage I filmed in Rio carnival 2010. Not many people to get to walk on the parade ground in Rio carnival, between the big samba school parades. Watching them pass by, many of the young women had something in common; spectacular samba shoes. So I filmed some of them. These aren't the jewelled platform shoes of the costumed dancers, but the shoes that are worn by aspiring or established starlets, models and the children of the rich and influential. Very High Heels and sparkle seem de rigeur, platforms are optional. Comfort is clearly completely irrelevant. Some fit very badly.

At http://www.tdsounds.co.uk you can buy samba drums and Brazilian percussion instruments from Rio de Janeiro for your samba band or school group, but none of these shoes, sorry. We do have CDs and DVDs of Rio carnival, though.
