When The Little Fellers were rehearsing their introductory video, which you may remember is fairly lively, Marlowe kept breaking out in this tune for no apparent reason - which amused Fletch and me but really annoyed Silas because, as I've said before, Silas is quite impatient. At any rate, it took us about twice as long to complete the first video because of this, and I wanted to come back to Marlowe's little song - he seems very fond of it.

Sadly, Marlowe is having some health problems but is expected to make a full recovery, though it may be a couple of weeks before we see him on stage again. Andy Payne, however, who is quite fond of Marlowe, offered to help me play it, so here we are, playing Marlowe's Theme on our Pipe Tweak Whisperin' Whistles, brass, key of Eb. Old Dog Clay wanted to tag along but, as you can see, he is apparently as afraid of heights as I am.

I don't play it quite as well as Marlowe does but I thought Andy Payne compensated for my deficiencies for the most part.

  • I am afraid I don't understand all the characters, but I thought this piece was very lovely...especially combining the audio from Hillbilly Hang Drum with this one. Try it, it's a delight!

  • My goodness, BluesMama, you are RIGHT!!!! They almost sound like they were meant for each other - I may have to do another video transposing them on top of each other - WOW!

Oh - re the characters - Marlowe is a member of The Little Fellers, a miniature theatre troupe comprised of 4 six inch tall clay guys and their clay dog named Old Dog Clay. They're grimlins around my house, all the time getting into things. If anything goes wrong I can blame one of them! They are very good natured!

  • Did I express how wonderful this is? Just checking...because if I didn't...I just wanted to say...well, I think this is wonderful and I CAN'T WAIT to hear more from you and the little Fellers. Just in case you were wondering. Ok ... I'll go back to my corner and wait. ;-)

  • Thanks, JP!!!! I really appreciate that! Yeah, we've been working real hard on a new video, doing a couple of all nighters. Keep a look-out! And again, thanks for your great encouragement - it means ALOT to me and The Little Fellers - they may SEEM self-assured, but they are just a little self-conscious....

  • You and your Little Fellers are wonderful. Marlow, Fletch, Silas, Andy Payne, Old Dog Clay are so lucky to be able to play with you. I'm envious! :-)

  • Thanks, JP! I have over 50 yrs experience creating little characters for my amusement. These four guys actually are based on characters I've written about in my books, so it's kind of added a dimension of realism for me - and they help me in my journey. HEY! It ain't ALL fun and games! Sometimes they work me mighty hard. Little Taskmasters, they ought to be called! But no, they're good hearted, fun loving, easy going - usually. Like others, though, they can get a little grumpy.

  • Thanks!!!! Like I said, Marlowe actually plays it much better than I do. But Andy Payne helped ALOT, so I guess between the two of us and Clay giving a little vibrato by his trembling up on the mictrophone, well, I reckon we pulled it off ok - THANKS!

  • Beautiful sounds & very expressive, so touching !

    Excellent 5*
