Is it supposed to go at this tempo?? I'm singing this now and have been singing it faster..

She did indeed sing as a mezzo in her early years as Dorabella, Carmen before she had a masterclass with Richard Bonynge who told her she was singing in the wrong register and then came Vera Rosza! She sings this with alot of emotion displaying already her ready talents to thrill and her middle voice is quite strong. Later on, as she transitioned to the soprano repertoire she tended to lighten the lower register quite a bit esp in Strauss. Interesting how the voice develops and changes with time

@beklopt: "Natural mezzo". She sang/sings well in lower tessiture. It's just that, comparatively, her higher registers are far more satisfying. So much is choice. (Obviously, she made the right one!)

Yes, You're right.

I think that she trained as a mezzo in her younger years of singing. It wasn't until later that she was switched to a soprano.

Definitely her voice was not a natural mezzo one. As a soprano...wow!
The line she delivers here is funereal to say the least, even though the song is a soap opera in itself...

Quando Kiri começou a estudar canto, foi vomo mezzo. Só mais tarde, já em Londres é que começou a trabalhar como Soprano que é na realidade a voz dela tal como indica a sua estrutura ossea facial.
She sings in very low register. I know that it's natural and change wiht age, but let me tell that I prefer her as soprano, singing thrilling high notes. Thanks for sharing
