As shown at http://canoecampfish.com - Well illustrated video showing how to fillet and clean Northern Pike and remove the y-bones. With the ybones gone the fillets are boneless. Contributions by my dog and kids.

  • well done ! i'm glad i found this!!

  • @albertansportsman Thanks for the comment. Yes, northern pike are pretty good when fried and you don't stab yourself with bones every time you take a bite!

  • Is it the same for a pickerel.? I just got back from a trip in Maine, caught a ton of pickerel, only ate one because of the bones.

  • I am fairly certain it is the same. Pike and pickerel are both species of the genus esox.

  • nice vid, i like the drawings. thanks

  • Thanks!

  • @refinisherman im sure its a little late but yes its the same way.... when are u comeing back up here?

  • Just as others have posted, I liked the drawings with the vid. Heading back to Mn. to fish the area I spent my summers when much younger. Looking for the big one....or two....or three... Thanks!

  • The drawings where very good. Much easier to understand where the "Y" bones are compared to an actual fillet.

  • good vid. but the best part is frying those fillets up....maaan they are good.

  • Really nice mate! The diagrams helped out quite a bit
