Minh Tran Granger High

This is a great day for Minh Tran. He enters Granger high school no longer as a Vietnam immigrant . . . but as an American student who will graduate with honors, and with thousands of dollars in college scholarship money.

Some may regard Minh as lucky. But it wasnt luck that got him here. (persistence sign)

1/12:16 when I first came here it was extrememly difficult could not talk to anyone.
2/1:22 when in 7th grade didn not feel I would graduate, keep working on it, not give upuntil I got my goal.

Today Minh presents what he has studied in Marilynn Millers English College Preparation class. He recounts George Orwells popular novels, particularly 1984.

(SOUND)
1/7:11 I remember when you first started thats how I relate to this book.

Now, only five years into the United States culture and language, his teachers, and classmates, marvel at his accomplishments.
3/6:11 To see him take that diploma one step closer to that dream:17

2/2:00 this makes be feel great, accomplish a lot, still a lot to deal with, will never give up until I am helpful to community and make my parents proud of me
