  • As a Vietnam vet I can confirm that I did hear that this was for us. If that was true it was really appreciated given the shit we put up with when we came home from that hell hole war.

  • @burbank133 Well, if the song wasn't for you guys, it certainly should have been. It also would have been considerate of those who gave any of you shit, to recall that it was" the draft" that placed a good number of you in that hell hole. Lets add insult to injury. I will never understand the lack of appreciation and respect that people have and are actually able and willing to show to others. I simply cannot wrap my brain around it. Regards from Washington State, USA

  • I was starting to think this version was a figment of my imagination... I couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks for posting.

  • @burbank133 Agreed. I heard that too.

  • in world war 2 my dad saw things that he still remembers but hes cool with those memories as there are always death in wars. but in viet nam charlie went over the top and took the war to something you'd see in the dark ages - heads of children on a stick, arms and legs left on the road to show everyone charlie doesn't give a shit and has no mercy for anyone - the average combat solider was not mentally prepared for what was going on in that war - no surge or bomb would have made a difference.

  • this song epitomizes Rock...

it's a shame they were basically a mediocre band, not quite 'one hit wonders' but wow, what a hit to leave for a legacy!!!

Rock Music thanks you Argent and so do I.

  • @burbank133 Just a footnote: For the last 20 yrs, I've been a correctional officer in Nevada. For 15 yrs I was the staff sponsor for Viet Nam Verteans of America Chapter 719, which is for the veteran inmates. Thier Eagle may fly in chains, but they are still veterans of that war. And I still remember my roots and proud of it. The healing never stops. Take care.

  • @TGHarsh Appreciate the good words. Take care as well bud.

  • @MrJustmythoughts Thanks for your support. I live in California and have been able to access resources for dealing with the issue of coping with the aftermath of that war.

  • @burbank133 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service. I haven't been but, from what I've seen and read war is actually Hell. If we are in the same city and there was anything you needed I would help you. Thank you for being in the war. GOD bless you.........

  • @burbank133 In 1972 I was a 17 when I completed AIT at Ft. Lee, Va. I flew into SF airport to be home for christmas, I was in uniform and was called a baby killer. I almost went ballistic. Oddly a radio station was playing this song. It helped alot. I was proud then and more today. Keep the faith bro.
