I'm worried that this documentary, seeing that it's released by the Met, won't be very objective. I hope it proves me wrong, but I feel like it'll just be a huge commercial for the production that doesn't comment on its negative aspects with regards to the production and some of the singers themselves. Voigt's performance was pretty horrifying, so it's weird that they've put her in major focus in this promo.

Deborah Voigt is a great Brunnhilde. I am traveling to NY to see Götterdämmerung in April because of her. H8rs won't stop me.

Not to mention that they slightly changed the end in the Copenhagen Ring. The woman with the child is Brunhilde with Siegfried's child...and people didn't seem so irritated with that as they are with this production. I love The Ring Cycle so I'll see both this and the broadcast on TV starting tonight.

I am a traditionalist as far as Wagner is concerned. This will be better for me than to pay hundreds for what the Met is presenting. To me what is onstage MUST match Wagner's music. The singers need to be on actual period sets not backgrounds projected on gargantuan Popsicle sticks! I refused the L.A. puppet show two years ago. This looks like Wagner's Nightmare than his dream. Traditional stagings people!
