In this episode we interview Brian Dalton, a former member of the LDS church, and founder of the Mr. Deity Internet TV series -- which explores religious belief from a skeptical point of view, using satire. Mr. Deity focuses on the every-day life God, and everything He must endure has he attempts to manage his creation.

In part 1, we discuss Brian's early years, his experience with the LDS church, his disaffection from the church, his views on religion, and the making of Mr. Deity. Towards the end, we are very blessed to spend a few minutes with Mr. Deity himself.

Your sick pagan sex cult is getting exposed. 100,000 people a year are officially leaving with more that just stop attending. More people quit than join. There is a reason the cult is bumping up missionary work in Africa where people do not have access to the internet or libraries.

Why would you say that?? Why? I am not a "troll"! What do I say that is so crazy or far-fetched?? I've been a Mormon for over 30 years and I DID read all the anti-Mormon stuff years ago when I was first investigating the church! It was all I could find back then--in Christian book stores, of all places! I didn't know where to turn for information at first, so I went to Christian book stores! All they had were anti-Mormon books!

Oh for heaven's sake, I have read that before and I read all kinds of stuff like that back when I was first investigating the LDS church over 30 years ago.

YES IT MEANS HE DOESN'T HAVE THE SPIRIT! Can't you see that?? What a thing to say, that Joseph Smith just wanted younger "tail". That is TERRIBLE! You KNOW that is not true! And HE knows that is not true! Yet he makes Joseph Smith out to be some kind of sexual pervert. What a thing to say! I mean it. I cannot BELIEVE you are all defending him after what he said, and you are putting ME down! This proves to me that you guys do not even WANT to understand the church!

Oh for heaven's sake, just the fact that he uses "tail" proves to me he does NOT understand what the church is all about! And what do you want me to do, drop out of the church? My faith is very important to me. I've been a Mormon for over 30 years. This was a huge step for me. I read all this stuff you are saying here over 30 years ago in the anti-Mormon books I found in Christian book stores when I was trying to find out about the church. You are telling me nothing new. Why are you so mean?

What's more offensive, someone accusing Joseph Smith for going after younger women using the word "tail", or Joseph Smith professing to be a prophet when he was no more than a con-man? Did Joseph Smith have the spirit when he lied to Emma Smith? Did he have the spirit when he violated free speech? Did he have the spirit when he drank alcohol in jail against his own commandments, or when he lied about the contents of the Egyptian scrolls? How about lying to his "brothers" by stealing their wives?

"tail" implies that he doesn't have the spirit? Wow, only a mormon can use that kind of logic.
