Baseball Fever at Saint Louis Zoo

These California sea lions are no Dodgers fans! Roby and RJ show off their baseball skills, St. Louis-style. Roby has learned to use his very sensitive whiskers to balance objects on his nose. The animals at the Saint Louis Zoo are trained using positive reinforcement. When the trainer asks the sea lion to do a behavior, such as balancing the ball or rolling over, he rewards that behavior with fish, or even a hi-five.

Catch a sea lion show on Saturdays and Sundays in October, and daily beginning Memorial Day.
