I had an old school history teacher that would often use "dropped dead" when talking about someone passing and didn't think anything of it. Maybe it was common in the old days

Imagine if Cronkite came on the day Kennedy died and said "JFK dropped dead about an hour ago in Dallas...someone shot his head off." That's probably how Mike would have reported it.

That is true, especially if they had a falling out as Mike and Tim Russert did.

No, I was just saying that "dropped dead" isn't used much on tv, I think MIke is insensitive in general to others.
