Our smart cat uses the toilet...

Shadow (or "Sriller" as she is called sometimes), our cat, is one of the smartest house cats I have ever seen. She is constantly studying human behavior, and always copying it. She is also one of the silliest kitties I know, and is approx. 6-7 yrs. old. I adopted her when she was probably 9-11 mo. old. She eventually, after watching people use the toilet, decided that the cat box was indeed, just for cats, and trained herself to use the toilet. I wish she flushed! LOL! This is actually the first time, that we knew of, that shadow used the toilet. We were not even trying to teach her to use the toilet, she literally just started the day we caught it on camera. With the positive reinforcement (telling her she was good), she did it more after that, though nothing beats going potty outside. But she still doesn't flush or wash her hands!! lol

Just to say again- Shadow did teach herself to do that. And I was shocked that she did it while the camera was rolling! And not just with the camera on the tri-pod set up for motion, she did it to show off to me, it just so happened that I had the camera on her.

For all those people who seem to be concerned about cleanliness: Yes, we have those Lysol individual wipes that I encourage my whole household to use on many surfaces before and after use, not just the toilet. Thanx for your concern!

Well, being Shadow Mcklutz, she did fall into the toilet a couple times at first. Now she's mastered sitting on the toilet, so no more accidents.

Her name is Shadow, but mostly we call her Sriller, or Shadow McKlutz 'cause she knocks things down while jumpin', both on purpose and accident.

She's awesome but I have to tell you--my cat trained herself to use the toilet too! haha. It is so awesome. My cat also studies human behavior and copies it. When she looks at me she is definitely thinking. My other cat is a little on the ding dongie side though; he can't even cover his own poop in the litter box! haha 1 out of 2 isn't bad though. Gratz on having a smart cat--it's a treat.

Wow, next you'll catch her reading a newspaper in there. Did you train her to do this, or did she just pick it up on her own? And do you need a litter box at all or does she exclusively use the toilet for her business?
