@alleygh0st thats the one I had been looking for, is not as I remember it because it was such a long time ago but thats the game. I also found out there was a second part made for it and it looks pretty fun for how insane a shmup with dinosaurs is as a story...Thanks!!!

The first shooter I ever played (which made me a shmup lover for life) had WW1 planes shooting prehistoric creatures and caveman, and at the end the boss would always be a huge prehistoric monster or animal like thing...the first boss as I remember had a long neck skeleton dino looking thing and another of the bosses was a gigantic sperm whale shooting things from its mouth, but I have never seen it again since I played it as a kid, does anyone remember a game like this?, or did I just dream it?

i member there was this one japanese shmup wher u can pick a fuckn dolphin as one of the pilots. can somebody help me out i wanna play it again it was in an arcade

@kingcamilo The Sonic Wings Series has a cast of wacky pilots and one of them is a dolphin named Whity.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again. What makes shoot'em ups great is they follow one basic formula, but you can re-invent that formula so many times it always makes just about any shoot'em up fun to play.
The hidden secret concerning shoot'em ups is they have some of the best underappreciated video game music of all time.

@TheCompletionist The best thing about the genre to me is you can pick up a game and play it for 10 mins or you can invest time into the game to master it and its pure fun either way. I totally agree on the music.
