@AnywhereButHere09 I didn't not say that they did, I said my TB was slower maturing, alot like most of her sires offspring and that it took her until 5 to fill out, but I don't think for a second that at 2 its okay to be going through intense training.

They may be raced at 2 , their bones are still growing. But remember.. Majority of them retire at 5-6.. Not all of 'em .. Most of them.. Either way, Thoroughbred's can have good bone, or light bone. The ones with light ones usually break their legs/break down.. Like Ruffian. Her father suffered 3 breakdowns throughout his racing career.. Just sayin'..
I do think the age should be 3-4 for when they start racing. But racehorses are mainly loved! Apart from some asshole of an owner/jockey.

@Marcee2800 Actually, all horses do not mature until 5. You are good to have homed a thoroughbred! Good luck with her.....

I have a mare from Dr.Adagio and most of his young are slower maturing. She wasn't done growing until 5. Their bones have not fused at 2. I don't believe for a second OTTB live longer then the average horse. I'm glad my girl didn't race. It's a lot of work trying train an OTTB after the track not to mention the fact that they could be winded. The barn I bought my horse from does treat them all amazing, nothing against race horse owners I just don't like the track life for a horse.

@Marcee2800 Yes they do ride them at two, but they are also checked and made sure that their legs are closed and safe. And it doesn't really affect them later on. One of the best geldings of all time John Henry raced 83 times and won 39 times, and lived longer than average barn horses, and he was heavily raced. The race horses get the best care in the world, not just the top class ones, but every one of them. They live as healthy and longer, if not longer lives than any other horse.

@whitewolf097 That's not not a bit for riding. it's for horses that are tough to handle. And they are not ridden before the sale. When they are ridden the are checked and made sure that their legs are closed, and what not. Thoroughbreds are also much faster developing horses than Quarter horses. Many people say this all the time, but they just say before they know hardly anything about the sports. They just assume and think because that they are horse people they would know about it.

@whitewolf097 well that is the most inteligent thing regarding horses I have read on youtube.

@tinghaling Care to back that up?
-
wtf his he saying, babububababubabubaubuabubaub thirty buabaubaubavrommvavrooom vavoom baubuaba?

That horse horse has been drugged
it's very common
If I was that filly I'd be pissed too. Probably not even a year old and already has a bit in her mouth poor doll. We don't break are Quarters to ride until they are atleast 4 that way we can insure their bones are capable for the task ahead.

I agree with you but sadly the racing industry is already riding them at 2 =( it really affects them later on.
