No Start, Diagnostic Basics

This video is a response to the Honda Main Relay video that I did. I've had a couple of people come to me with questions about no start conditions and how they should go about fixing them. This video is a starting point to a series that I plan to cover on this subject. The point I make in the video over and over is, don't make assumptions. Assumptions get expensive and can frustrate you to the point of homicide, follow these simple tips and it will lead you down the path of success.

so eric, just got a job as a car salesman at mazda. going to try to switch to service partime as a lubeTech and go to school fulltime. so funnu this guy just graduated from the same auto school i want to go to and is doing great. Yeah the new mazda skyactiv g engine is so awesome 13compression ratio and get 45 mpg hwy. great new engine mazda came out with. check it out

95 Honda Prelude VTEC - Killed starter last winter and replaced it. After that it will turn over but not fire. I have replaced plugs, coil, checked the TWO wires I unhooked, checked timing belt to be in tact and still no start.  It has plenty of fuel. I know its getting injector pulse by the smell of fuel inside the cylinder when I pulled the plugs. What gives?

@DisaFreek Could be flooded. You didn't mention if you checked for spark or not, you just said you replaced parts, check for spark and make sure you have it, I did a video on diagnosing Honda ignition problems BTW.

hi i have a 2001 kia sportage,the temp dropped to 29 first time last night, went toget in the alarm went off the driver door, unusal uslly the it is set up for the pasenger door to do that, then drove to the store when got back in it would not turn over and light came on, waited a hour then it stated it has done this 3 times since then what could it be hope you can hep thanks allison

@allison481959 Hard to say but if I read you correctly perhaps the security system has something to do with it. Unfortunately you would probably have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed if that was the case.

hello.. i have a 93 honda del sol si and it is not starting anymore.. It use to start before by pressing the gas and turning the key at the same time.. now it wont even turn on like that. when i looked at the spark plugs they had gas on them.. i also changed the disttributor cap and rotor and fuel pump.. i dont think its the fuel pump because i hear it turn on

one thing i try if you know the starter and battery are good is turn ur key two clicks put ur foot on the brake and shift down to drive and back to park then try starting it. i had to do this a few times in my 93 accord

@EricTheCarGuy Hi Eric great Vid. I just bought an 02 Sentra 1.8. I have NO start in the morning or after sitting for a bit. I got fuel/pressure, Spark and compression. Pulled the plugs and they are soaked in gas. Any idea??

I have a 97 nissan maxima that has a V6 and when i turn the key it clicks? I noticed a relay clicking under the dash and another relay clicking under the hood and the EVAP canister purge volume control valve is buzzing when i turn the key? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
