Deep down many Chinese know Tibet was separate from China, different people with a distinct language, culture, government, way of life, monetary system, small army, issuing passports and making treaties with its neighbors, even with China. China can rewrite all the books they want, promote a twisted version of the facts, and lie about our beloved country but the truth remains the truth and we Tibetans know the truth. We don't want your version of progress, thanks anyway!

The Potala has been turned into some kind of tourist museum, as have the few remaining monasteries, that have a limited number of monks controlled by the Chinese government. Tacky shops, stupid amusement parks in our most sacred city. The lies run deep, are relentless & many Chinese have been taught these lies from the beginning of their educational experiences. Others get very upset when talk of a free Tibet arises. It's because of suppressed hidden guilt, & suppressed withholding of the truth.

The loss of Tibet, Tibetan culture and the way of living and thinking of Tibetan people is a loss for the entire world, the entire human paradigm. There were many inequaties in old Tibet but we never starved, we were free and we lived our religious practice 24/7. Now there are a handful of monasteries left out of the thousands, there are more brothels in Lhasa than there are monasteries in all of Tibet.

China is in Tibet for the resources, i.e. land, space, lumber, water, minerals like gold, silver, borax, copper, uranium, etc. Not to mention the strategic military location. Tibet was invaded and has been occupied for nearly 60 years. the renaming of streets in Chinese, the erecting of monuments to tell a false history of Tibet, the movement of massive populations of Han-Chinese into Tibet, all point to a planned genocide.

Talk to someone who knows the reality on the ground. Someone who's Father died at the hands of the Chinese. Someone who was forced to shoot their own parents while the Chinese soldiers held their little hands and made them pull the trigger. Someone who's Mother was tortured with a cattle prod.

That's really funny. Many scholars agree that things were far worst in China than in Tibet at the time of the invasion and after they only got worst. MAO brought the worst famines in recorded history. Over one million Tibetans have lost their lives since the invasion. Massive destruction of their sacred monasteries, destruction of ancient artifacts, burning of ancient scriptures and looting of gold and silver.

The feudal serfdom under a theocracy constituted the ruling power of old Tibet. The Tibetan people suffered exploitation and had a generally miserable existence.
In accordance with the wishes of the Tibetan people, the central government quickly quelled this rebellion, and began instituting the democratic reforms and abolishing the feudal serfdom. A million of Tibetan serfs were liberated, and would henceforth no longer be sold, transferred, or forced to labor as chattel.
