Part of the puppy's curriculum is to become confident navigating the forest, particularly in brush and water. The puppies have had multiple outings under the supervision of Joseph, the Akbash/Pyrenees, and myself. They've also had multiple outings with Jairam, my SAR trailing dog/Skijor partner. On this particular day, they were surprised by the scent of other humans in the woods. This is not the way you would train a SAR dog, but it was a fun exercise to see how they would respond. They were approaching from 45 degrees moving away from the people, but upon catching scent, they changed course and came in. They found one familiar person, and one new person, and were treated to food rewards. Joseph of course supervised the presence of people in his forest.
Awesome!
