The MXL 990 is a very affordable, high quality condenser microphone. This is a review and demonstration of the sound of the microphone.

    Please respond.

  • @J7XDRUM Check out Ebay.

  • I'm just asking out of pure curiosity ( i look at people a little to closely at times), but are you do you have nystagmus & are you albino? Please dont take offense, just curious =)

  • @CheoitzAza Yup

  • I have this mic and was wondering what type/brand pop filter you use. I'm having a difficult time choosing one, as their are different types available. What pop filter/screen do you recommend for the MXL 990? Thanks!

  • @AnGmusique Just grab a dual layer one. Any will do .

  • Does the microphone come with the XLR plug to power it?

  • I've been using this mic since 2005 and it's amazing for its little price... A really nice microphone for home studio. And it's not a joke!!! :-) Listen to an artist I like (alinedelimadotcom) and look after her album "Maritima", she recorded all her vocals, percussions, guitars and accordeon with this mic. It's very professional quality.

  • This mic, in my opinion, is on the bottom end of decent. Do you need a $2000 mic? No, but you can find a much better mic for under $500. ...and I outright disagree. It is better to have one great mic, than a bunch of half-decent mics. Your recordings will be better. This was the first mic I ever bought. I thought it was great, until I got an ADK MK8 ($350) and compared them. The difference? The 990 sounded very nasal on vocals compared to the MK8.
