what about digging on the face of the cliff?Still 25 % chance
any tips on what to look for in the dirt and rock formations?

@ShimmeryD It comes and goes from everyone in a day to no one in a day is happy. Usually there are at least 10 people digging or looking in tailings and almost everyday someone finds a real keeper. Now for my clients I advise them it is a 25% chance or less you get more than souvenirs. Opal goes for 100s a ct for excellent material (like sapphires and rubies do) and most fee digs material (agates thunder eggs semi precious gems)goes for less than 1/10 of 1 cent. Thats $20 a pound or so.

I would like to know how many people get opals in the 8 hours your allowed in a day.
It is a long way there and the entrance prices not cheap

From what I could tell, everyone was finding something. The clay bank has many opals. You do have to do a lot of digging if you are going to make it pay off.
